David Ambrosio/Russ Meissner Sextet

Presented by the Redwood Jazz Alliance as the opener of its 21st season. This New York City-based sextet, co-led by bassist David Ambrosio and drummer Russ Meissner, reunites to mark the tenth anniversary of their 2016 album Moments in Time — described by longtime New York Times jazz writer Peter Watrous as a collection of "gorgeous" tunes that stands as "the reward for a long chase, the endless chase for beauty…producing a perfection that so rarely happens, and can only be a product of so much shared knowledge." Doors/show 8:00–10:30 PM at the Arcata Playhouse.
