David Ambrosio/Russ Meissner Sextet

The David Ambrosio/Russ Meissner Sextet is a New York City-based jazz collective co-led by bassist David Ambrosio and drummer Russ Meissner, an in-demand rhythm section who have played together since the mid-1990s. The group's debut album, Moments in Time, was released in 2016 on SteepleChase Recordings and features a front line of alto saxophonist Loren Stillman, multi-instrumentalist Matt Renzi, guitarist Nate Radley and pianist Leonard Thompson. Their open-textured, interactive post-bop draws on decades of shared history in the New York scene, and the sextet reunited in 2026 for a tenth-anniversary tour revisiting that record.
