Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Humboldt Events (the "Service"), a local events calendar for Humboldt County and the surrounding area, together with the accounts, RSVPs, direct messages, contests, ticket sales and free websites that go with it. By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Who we are
The Service is operated by Humboldt Events ("we", "us"). You can reach us through our contact form or at support@humboldtevents.com. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.
Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and some features (such as contest prizes) have their own age rules.
- Give accurate information, keep your password secure, and tell us if your account is used without your permission. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, harms other people, or puts the Service at risk.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the Service. In particular, do not: post content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, deceptive or infringing; impersonate anyone or claim an artist or venue you do not represent; send spam or bulk unsolicited messages; scrape, overload or attempt to bypass the Service's limits or security; or use the Service to break the law or the rights of others.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post — comments, photos, gallery items, menus, event listings and websites. By posting it you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute it as part of the Service (for example, showing your photo on a venue page). You confirm you have the right to post it. We may remove or moderate content that breaks these terms; some content is reviewed before it appears, and we may hide or remove it afterwards.
Events, listings and accuracy
Listings come from many places — venues, promoters, public calendars and automated tools — and details (times, prices, line-ups, venues) change. We work to keep them accurate but we cannot guarantee it: always confirm with the venue or organiser before travelling or buying. A listing is not an endorsement, and we are not a party to any event.
Tickets
Where tickets are sold through the Service, the venue or organiser is the seller of the ticket and is responsible for the event. We provide the ticketing software and collect payment on the seller's behalf; our service fee is shown at checkout before you pay. Refund rules (including any refundable ticket-protection option) are shown at checkout and are applied by the organiser. Tickets are for your personal use and may be scanned once at the door.
Contests
Chance drawings (sweepstakes) and judged contests are governed by the official rules shown on each contest page, which control if they conflict with these terms. No purchase is necessary to enter, and a free means of entry is always available. Winners are responsible for any taxes on prizes.
Advertising and sponsorships
Advertisers and sponsors are responsible for the content they supply and must have the right to use it. Ads are labelled as advertising. We may decline or remove an ad that is misleading, unlawful, or inconsistent with the Service.
Free websites
Artists and venues may build a free website with us. You are responsible for the content you publish on it and for keeping it within these terms. We may suspend a site that breaks them. Sites are provided as-is and may change or be discontinued.
Direct messages and social features
Be civil. Do not use messages, comments or tags to harass, spam or deceive. You control who may message or tag you in your privacy settings, and you can block or report another user. We may review reported content and act on it.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that any listing, price or availability is accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Service or from any event, ticket or third-party content. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your content or your breach of these terms or the rights of others.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will note the new date here and, where appropriate, tell you by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any dispute will be brought in the courts serving Humboldt County, California.
