Miles Schmidt

Miles Sterling Schmidt is a 17-year-old tap dancer from Humboldt County, CA who treats tap as a rhythm instrument in live jazz settings. He headlined his first sold-out show as bandleader, "The Music of Vince Guaraldi," at the Arcata Playhouse in December 2025 and collaborates regularly with the local jazz community including Bandemonium and the J Street Regulars. He performs as the tap dancer for the quintet After Hours and leads his own interdisciplinary show "Sun Up to Sun Down," a musical exploration of the power of dance rooted in jazz and avant-garde.
