Mal Coombs Park is a Bureau of Land Management day-use park on the west side of Shelter Cove in the King Range National Conservation Area, centered around the historic 1868 Cape Mendocino Lighthouse that was relocated there from Cape Mendocino in 1998 and restored in 2000. The park has a parking lot, picnic tables, BBQ pits, interpretive panels and access to a small rocky beach with tide pools exposed at low tide, plus seasonal lighthouse tours. It also serves as a community gathering space hosting events such as Taste of the Cove, with picnicking, whale watching and tidepooling.
