The Eureka Chinatown Monument is a public art installation at the corner of First and E streets in Old Town Eureka, honoring the Chinese community that was forcibly expelled from the city in 1885 and banned from Humboldt County for decades. Created by the Eureka Chinatown Project, an initiative of Humboldt Asians & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity (HAPI), the site features a moon gate arch, a river timeline of stone markers, poem walls with Daryl Ngee Chinn's 'Water Book of Questions,' and a ginkgo tree. It was unveiled with a grand opening celebration on October 11, 2026, and also hosts community events, walking tours and educational programming.
