Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway is a 10-mile paved scenic drive through Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, part of Redwood National and State Parks between Orick and Klamath. Winding beneath towering old-growth coast redwoods as an alternative to Highway 101, it offers pullouts for vehicles of all sizes, trailheads, Big Tree Wayside, the Prairie Creek Visitor Center at 127011 Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway, and meadows where Roosevelt elk are often seen grazing. Named for conservationist Newton B. Drury, the parkway is closed to motor vehicles on the first Saturday of each month from October to May for Bike and Hike Days.
