About this event

"Wusatoumuduk: We Make It Burn" is a new multi-media play about Cultural Fire, produced by Sugarbush Hill Moving Lhatsik, a Dreammaker project of the Ink People led by Michelle Hernandez (Wiyot) and Zuzka Sabata. It emphasizes the urgent need to embrace time-honored land stewardship practices that have supported ecological balance for millennia. Featuring local Native cast members, nationally acclaimed Native director Tara Moses (Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, Mvskoke), and traditional Wiyot stories told through shadow puppetry. The play tours Eureka, Arcata, Fortuna and Table Bluff parks in October 2026, with all shows starting at 7:30 p.m. All shows are free and all ages appropriate; bring camping chairs, blankets, a headlamp or flashlight, and dress warmly.
