About this event
Join Friends of the Dunes for a Native Plant Farm Volunteer Day supporting native plants and wildlife at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center. Help care for native dune mat species, remove invasive plants (European beachgrass, iceplant, invasive annual grasses) and maintain the Acmon Blue native plant demonstration garden and living green roof that provides habitat for pollinators including the acmon blue butterfly. Friends of the Dunes is a 501(c)3 conserving coastal dune diversity since 1982 and manages 122 acres at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center, gateway to 1,000+ acres of dunes. Restoration plant stock is grown in partnership with Samara Restoration native plant nursery (McKinleyville). No experience necessary — gloves, tools, training, camaraderie and snacks provided. Wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you can get dirty; carpooling encouraged. RSVPs encouraged via Eventbrite.
