Colby Beers

Colby Beers is a Humboldt County-based world percussionist and tabla specialist with BFA and MFA degrees from California Institute of the Arts, where he studied under World Percussion virtuoso Randy Gloss and tabla maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. With roots in drum corps (Santa Clara Vanguard, Concord Blue Devils, RCC) and ensembles such as Burat Wangi, Volta and Kraken Unleashed, he performs percussion traditions from India, Ghana, Indonesia, Iran and Egypt with a deep focus on North Indian tabla. Now residing in Arcata, he leads the local world percussion ensemble Atsia, performs regularly with the Eureka Symphony and Skywater Kirtan Band, and composes for the world percussion quartet Isochrony with Dalia Berman, Clarice Castilho and Trever Anderies.
