The McKinleyville Business District is the Central Avenue commercial corridor that serves as the unincorporated town's de facto downtown, centered between Hiller and Pickett Roads. It is a concentration of shops, restaurants, grocery stores and services anchored by the historic McKinleyville Shopping Center — home to what is billed as the World's Tallest Totem Pole carved in 1962 — and supported by the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce at 1640 Central Ave. The corridor hosts everyday shopping and dining as well as community events like Pony Express Days and Music in the Park.
