Mario's Marina Bar

Mario's Marina Bar is a historic oceanfront bar and restaurant in Shelter Cove (Whitethorn) at 533 Machi Rd inside Mario's Marina, founded in 1946 by the Machi brothers as a bait shop and shepherd's hut. Now renovated with nautical-glam decor, it is a local social hub known for craft cocktails, rotating guest-chef pop-ups (High Tide in the Cove, Sunday sushi by Chef Pangnou Vang), live music and open jam nights, with panoramic Pacific views over the marina and Sinkyone Wilderness. The dog-friendly patio with boat bar, fire pits, stage and beer gardens hosts daily service, events and small weddings, though it was temporarily closed in late 2025 for a bluff-erosion engineering review.
