The Gross-Wells-Barnum House is a 1902 two-story Colonial Revival home at 703 8th Street in Eureka (headquarters of the Humboldt County Historical Society) donated to the Society in 1993 through the estate of Helen Wells Barnum, whose grandparents Dr. and Mrs. Reuben Gross built it. It now serves as the Society's research center, archive and library, housing tens of thousands of photographs, maps, manuscripts, business records and other Humboldt County historic materials open to researchers Wednesday-Friday (members and students free, $5 day fee for non-members). The venue hosts research services, genealogy resources, the quarterly Humboldt Historian publication, and special events including the Saturday Speaker Series.
