The Arcata Veterans Memorial Building, established in 1930 at 1425 J Street, is the historic home of American Legion Arcata Post 274 and a Humboldt County-owned community hall. Operated as a 501(c)(19) nonprofit, it supports veterans' reintegration through outreach, education and mentoring while serving the broader community. Its main hall/auditorium and meeting spaces are widely used for public rentals including weddings, memorials, meetings, community events and monthly veteran brunches, and is notable for the World War II cannon displayed in front delivered in the 1940s via the Northwestern Pacific Railroad.
