About this event

Wusatoumuduk: We Make It Burn is a new multimedia stage play about Cultural Fire, produced by Sugarbush Hill Moving Lhatsik, a Dreammaker project of the Ink People, led by co-artistic directors Michelle Hernandez (Wiyot) and Zuzka Sabata. The full-length production tours Humboldt County public parks in October 2026, featuring local Native cast members, nationally acclaimed Native director Tara Moses (Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, Mvskoke), and three filmed traditional Wiyot stories told through shadow puppetry. The play emphasizes the urgent need to embrace time-honored land stewardship practices that have supported ecological balance for millennia. Shows start at 7:30 p.m.; bring camping chairs, blankets, headlamps or flashlights, and dress warmly. Appropriate for all audiences and free to attend. This Arcata performance is at Redwood Park; check wemakeitburn.com for weather-related venue changes.
