About this event

Wusatoumuduk: We Make It Burn is a new multi-media play about Cultural Fire, envisioned and collaboratively written in present-day Humboldt County and produced by Sugarbush Hill Moving Lhatsik, a Dreammaker project of the Ink People led by Michelle Hernandez (Wiyot) and Zuzka Sabata. Directed by nationally acclaimed Native director Tara Moses (Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, Mvskoke), it features local Native cast members and traditional Wiyot stories told through shadow puppetry, emphasizing time-honored land stewardship practices that have supported ecological balance for millennia. The play tours Eureka and Arcata area parks in October 2026; all shows start at 7:30 p.m. and are free and all-ages. Audience members are encouraged to bring camping chairs, blankets, headlamps or flashlights, and dress warmly.
