"Welcome Space Brothers"

"If I didn't know [the film] was a documentary, I'd swear it was a WTF, insane, sci-fi tale of weirdness." ~Film Threat. Welcome Space Brothers (from "The Source Family" director Jodi Wille, 2023, 100 mins) dives into the extraordinary true story of the Unarius Academy of Science, an extraterrestrial-channeling spiritual school founded in El Cajon, California in the 1970s. Led by the dazzlingly outlandish Ruth E. Norman - revered as "Archangel Uriel" - Unarius evolved into a wildly inventive public-access TV phenomenon. The group produced films that appeared to be elaborately campy space epics yet were, at their core, sincere therapeutic works. Produced by Wille and Caryn Capotosto ("Won't You Be My Neighbor"). Executive producers include Elijah Wood, Moby, and Oscar-winning filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. "A vision of healing, acceptance, peace, cooperation, and hope, expressed through an outpouring of unbridled creative energy. If that spells crazy, beam me up!" ~Artillery. Premieres Friday 10/9 at 9:00 pm, with encore "Taco Tuesday" screenings 10/13 and 10/20 at 7:00 pm.
