R.O.A.D.T.I.P.: Radical Overview About Ditching Technology In-Person

The NYC Luddites will be sharing how they organized the Summer of Ludd: 8 days, 150 events, free lunch for 250 people a day, no permits, in a historic heatwave, all organized without social media! SoL included a plurality of events, from radical puppet theater, to teach-ins on Data Center resistance, to Jamborees, and workshops for divesting from Big Tech. Come learn about how they put it on, and how the Luddite critique can help us make sense of the AI bubble, alienation, and the surveillance state. This critic is historically grounded in the Luddites of the 1810's who resisted “machines harmful to commonality, which tear unduly at the social fabric”. As Tech Billionaires tear at the social fabric around us, Luddites ask, “how can we rebuild it?” The tour includes: organizing tactics for reclaiming public space, structures for large-scale projects, digital security + organizing without relying on platforms, tactical playfulness, and base-building for a popular movement against Big Tech.
