About this event
John Wilson is an NYC-based documentarian best known for his HBO series How To with John Wilson. Following that series' finale, The History of Concrete looks to the bedrock of his beloved New York City, treating concrete, the world's most widely used building material, as an ever-present life force as he sets out to make the definitive documentary on the matter. To tell this seemingly drab story he adopts the industry-approved Hallmark formula to boost his movie's appeal, but his foundation soon begins to crumble, literally and figuratively, as he struggles to balance artistic freedom with the realities of the modern film industry. Doors at 6:30 p.m., movie at 7 p.m. Limited bar available; no outside food or drink. Very few seats — get tickets online.
