in Hoopa, 23rd Annual Chalk it up for Books Fundraising Event

The Friends of the Kim Yerton Memorial Library present the 23rd Annual Chalk It Up for Books Fundraiser on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kim Yerton Memorial Library in Hoopa. Enjoy vibrant sidewalk chalk art and community creativity while supporting library resources, programs and new books. Sponsor a sidewalk square for $30 (3x3 feet) or $60 (3x6 feet) by Sept. 15 to guarantee your space, or sign up as a volunteer artist to color unassigned squares — drop-ins welcome. Volunteer artists can win prizes including a custom garden box built by the Building Lives Builds Structure Program and a handmade crocheted item by Kimberly Davis. Food available for purchase from MF Cravings (Mike and Falona Bailey) and free light refreshments provided by the K'ima:w Medical Center Diabetes Program and the Hoopa Shopping Center.
