About this event
Returning from a two-week break, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors takes up a packed agenda led by an urgency ordinance establishing a 45-day moratorium on data center siting in the county's unincorporated areas while permanent regulations are developed, and a companion urgency ordinance prohibiting the removal of large redwood trees outside timber production zones. The board will also consider a letter of opposition to Proposition 45, the state ballot measure that would limit the scope of the California Environmental Quality Act, and will revisit the county's sandbag policy and flood safety protocols for flood-prone communities. The consent calendar includes proclamations of October 1-8, 2026 as Week Without Driving and October 2026 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a five-year extension and membership expansion of the Humboldt County Fire Safe Council, letters of appreciation, approval of the September 15, 2026 action summary, the supervisors' August 2026 expense report, pre-qualification for ADA architectural and project management services, the Animal Shelter ADA compliance project, a conflict of interest code amendment, a clinical education agreement with Capella University, acceptance of a $12,432 tuberculosis funding allotment, and authorization to use about $1.81 million in HOME program income for the We Are Up affordable housing project and an owner-occupied rehabilitation loan program.
