About this event
Explore one of Humboldt County's best-kept secrets at the Lacks Creek Recreation Area. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management, this 8,600-acre recreation area features a network of trails through forests, oak woodlands, and open prairies with sweeping views of the surrounding Coast Range.
We'll hike a combination of the Beaver Ridge and Prairie Trails at a relaxed pace, taking time to enjoy the changing landscapes and watch for wildlife. Lacks Creek is home to Roosevelt elk, black-tailed deer, black bears, and a variety of bird species, making it a great destination for wildlife viewing.
Transportation and experienced guides are included. Please bring lunch, water, sturdy hiking shoes, layers, and sun protection for a full day of exploring one of Humboldt's lesser-known public lands.
Thanks to the support of Associated Students, this program is free for Cal Poly Humboldt students. A $10 refundable deposit is required to reserve your spot and will be returned upon successful completion of the program. This deposit helps reduce last-minute cancellations and ensures opportunities remain available for students who want to participate.
