About this event
Discover one of Humboldt County's newest old-growth forests on a leisurely hike through the Headwaters Forest Reserve. Once heavily logged and later protected through one of the largest conservation efforts in California history, the reserve now offers miles of trails winding through towering second-growth and old-growth redwoods, quiet creeks, and lush fern-covered forests.
This special trip includes access to areas of the reserve not typically open to the public and a guided interpretive hike led by a Bureau of Land Management interpreter. Learn about the reserve's history, ongoing restoration efforts, and the plants and wildlife that call Headwaters home.
Transportation and experienced Outdoor Adventures guides are included. Please bring lunch, water, sturdy walking shoes, and layers for changing weather.
Thanks to the support of Associated Students, this program is free for Cal Poly Humboldt students. A $10 refundable deposit is required to reserve your spot and will be returned upon successful completion of the program. This deposit helps reduce last-minute cancellations and ensures opportunities remain available for students who want to participate.
