About this event

The Eureka Historic Preservation Commission holds a public hearing (Oct. 7, 2026, 4 p.m.) on a project to make the Eureka Woman's Club building at 1531 J Street more accessible for people with disabilities, update its windows, and add a new fence. The work replaces the existing accessible ramp, alters the south-facing facade windows, and constructs a new wood fence, and is found to meet the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties while qualifying for a Class 31 categorical environmental exemption under CEQA. The commission also takes up a historic preservation building permit acknowledgement, ongoing commission input on Eurekahistory, a Redwood material substitution discussion, and a public comment period before adjournment.
