The Room is a 2003 American independent romantic drama written, directed, produced by and starring Tommy Wiseau. Set in San Francisco and produced by Wiseau-Films in Los Angeles, it centers on a melodramatic love triangle between banker Johnny, his fiancée Lisa, and his best friend Mark. Initially a box-office bomb, it became a legendary midnight cult phenomenon celebrated as the "Citizen Kane of bad movies" for its bizarre storytelling, technical flaws, and earnest performances.
