The Intima
The Intima is a Portland/Olympia post-punk quartet formed in 1999, known for violin-driven art-punk with custom-tuned guitars and a tightly-coiled rhythm section. Originally Alex Neerman (drums), Themba Lewis (bass), Nora Danielson (violin/voice) and Andrew Neerman (guitar/voice) — later listed as Erika Elizabeth (bass/vocals), Andrew Neerman, Sam Klapper (violin) and Alex Neerman — they released No Lullaby For Sleep (2000, Zum) and Peril and Panic (2003, Zum/Collective Jyrk, remixed/remastered 2024 on Post Present Medium). Celebrated for chaotic yet precise live shows, they toured extensively in the early 2000s with acts including The Rapture and The Mekons and have recently returned to Pacific Northwest stages.
