The Comix Trip

The Comix Trip is a Humboldt County multimedia band led by artist, animator and musician Violet Crabtree, active in the North Coast underground since around 2012. Crabtree narrates her own hand-drawn comics with an overhead projector while her bandmates provide a live musical score and Foley effects, making each set part concert and part storytelling. The group's handmade, do-it-yourself approach extends to Crabtree's stop-motion films, which grew out of the comic stories she performs with the band.
