Subatomic Sound System

Subatomic Sound System is a Brooklyn, New York-based record label and collective of musicians, producers, DJs and visual artists founded in 1999 by Emch and Noah Shachtman. Known for adapting 1970s Jamaican sound system culture and dub studio techniques to modern bass-heavy genres, the group gained wide recognition as dub inventor Lee "Scratch" Perry's touring band from 2011 until his death, including Coachella 2013 and the Billboard-charting album Super Ape Returns to Conquer (2017). The crew also runs Subatomic Sound Radio on Brooklyn Radio, founded the Dub Champions Festival, and continues to tour as a hybrid live/electronic outfit with vocalist Screechy Dan.
