Steve Kimock is a Bay Area guitarist and master of fluid improvisation whose singing, melodic tone on electric, acoustic, lap and pedal steel guitars has made him a staple of the psychedelic and jam-band world for more than four decades. Born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, he moved to northern California in the early 1970s and co-founded the influential jazz-rock band Zero with drummer Greg Anton, later leading KVHW, the Steve Kimock Band, Voodoo Dead and the rotating Steve Kimock & Friends. Known as "The Guitar Monk" and once cited by Jerry Garcia as a favorite player, he has collaborated across the Grateful Dead family, including the Other Ones, Phil Lesh & Friends, RatDog and Rhythm Devils, while releasing albums such as Eudemonic, Last Danger of Frost and Satellite City. He continues to tour in various configurations under his own name.
