somesurprises

somesurprises is a Seattle-based band led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Natasha El-Sergany, born in Letterkenny, Ireland and raised in the north of England before settling in the Pacific Northwest. What began as a bedroom project built on spectral balladry and late-night exploration has grown into a fluid collaboration with synthesist and guitarist Josh Medina, blending reverb-drenched folk, motorik dream pop and drone rock. The group's 2024 full-length Perseids, released by Doom Trip Records, expanded that sound with bassist Laura Seniow, drummer Nico Sophiea and cellist Lori Goldston, earning praise from NPR, The Quietus and Bandcamp. The 2025 EP Year Without Spring followed, recorded largely by El-Sergany and Medina with Evan Hashi.
