Private Prisons

Private Prisons is a blackened sludge, death, and doom metal band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2021, the group welds crushing sludge and doom to black and death metal, drone, noise, and experimental textures. Their discography includes Extrication (2022), Excommunication (2024), and the 2026 full-length Theo Lacy, a caustic reckoning with Orange County excess and the ways people imprison themselves in addiction, greed, and consumerism. Lyrically the band takes aim at capitalism, incarceration, and coercive power.
