Jonathan Stout's Campus Five

Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five, featuring Hilary Alexander, is a Los Angeles-based swing dance band devoted to the small-group sound of the late 1930s and early 1940s. The seven-piece group draws on the Benny Goodman Sextet, Artie Shaw's Gramercy Five, Count Basie's Kansas City Six, and Harlem small groups for its driving, danceable arrangements. Founded by guitarist/bandleader Jonathan Stout and vocalist Hilary Alexander, the band has released albums including Jammin' the Blues, Crazy Rhythm, Moppin' and Boppin', Spreadin' Rhythm Around, Hummin' to Myself, and the holiday record Let It Snow, and has performed at premier swing events worldwide such as Camp Hollywood, the International Lindy Hop Championships, Lindy Focus, and the Chase Festival in Germany.
