Hot Buttered Duo

Hot Buttered Duo is the acoustic duo side of San Francisco Bay Area progressive bluegrass band Hot Buttered Rum, featuring co-founders Nat Keefe on guitar and Erik Yates on banjo and dobro. The pair strips the six-piece band's West Coast Americana and high-altitude bluegrass to intimate two-part harmonies and string-band interplay rooted in Appalachian tradition with California branches. Formed with Hot Buttered Rum in 1999 and active as a duo on releases including Hot Buttered Duo - Live in Fog City (2023), they bring the band's festival-honed, danceable songwriting to smaller rooms and duo tours nationwide.
