Ehren Tool is a ceramic artist and Marine Corps veteran of the 1991 Gulf War who has made and given away tens of thousands of clay cups since 2001. Working from a studio in Berkeley, California, he throws cups and decorates them with handmade stamps bearing war imagery, propaganda, and sculptural reliefs, giving each piece away rather than selling it. A UC Berkeley MFA graduate and the ceramics studio mechanician in the university's Department of Art Practice, he has exhibited across the US and Europe and appeared in the PBS series Craft in America. His work, held in collections including the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery, aims to spark honest conversations about war, service, and healing.
