David Jacobs-Strain is a fierce slide guitar player and song poet from Oregon, originally born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1983. Known for his virtuosity and spirit of emotional abandon, his live show moves from humorous, subversive blues to delicate balladry and swampy rock and roll, drawing comparisons to Robert Johnson and Jackson Browne. With longtime collaborator Bob Beach on harmonica, the duo released The Belfry Session (2023), recorded at the Belfry in Sisters, Oregon. He has appeared at festivals including Merlefest, Telluride Blues Festival and Philadelphia Folk Festival, and has shared stages with Lucinda Williams, Boz Scaggs, Etta James and Taj Mahal.
