Dave Stuckey's Hoot Owls

Dave Stuckey's Hoot Owls is a Los Angeles-based Western swing superband led by singer, songwriter, drummer and guitarist Dave Stuckey, the 2020 Ameripolitan Music Award winner for Best Western Swing Male. The group mines the earliest form of the genre, the pre-1944 'hot string band' sound, drawing on Milton Brown, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, the Light Crust Doughboys and the Tune Wranglers. Backed by a rotating cast of top traditional jazz and swing players on fiddle, steel guitar, upright bass, guitar and piano, the band delivers red-hot dance music that keeps the floor moving. They are a recurring favorite at West Coast festivals including the Redwood Coast Music Festival in Eureka.
