Charlie Halloran & The Tropicales is a New Orleans band led by trombonist and vocalist Charlie Halloran, playing horn-driven mid-century Caribbean dance music—calypso, cumbia, beguine and bolero—filtered through the city's traditional jazz and 1950s R&B. The group grew out of Halloran's 1960s-style Caribbean lounge concept and released its debut album Shake the Rum in 2019, followed by The Alcoa Sessions, Jump Up and the holiday record Presents for Everyone. They are regulars at Snug Harbor, Tipitina's, Vaughan's, Saturn Bar and BJ's Lounge, and have appeared at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and French Quarter Festival.
