Charlie Halloran & The Quality Six is the traditional jazz project led by New Orleans trombonist Charlie Halloran, a fixture of the Crescent City's Frenchmen Street and Preservation Hall scene. Backed by a lineup of veteran New Orleans players on clarinet, trumpet, piano, bass and drums, the group swings through deep-cut traditional jazz standards with a no-nonsense, down-the-middle ensemble sound. Their debut album, Charlie Halloran and the Quality 6, was released in 2015, nominated for Best Traditional Jazz CD by OffBeat Magazine and named one of the top 50 Louisiana recordings of the year. Halloran is also known for leading the Caribbean lounge band the Tropicales and for work with the Squirrel Nut Zippers, Jon Cleary and Meschiya Lake.
