Brett McFarland & The Freedom Riders

Brett McFarland is a Humboldt County-based outlaw country and Americana singer-songwriter whose music honors life in the margins — celebrating freedom, reckoning with loss, and creating space for healing. Once incarcerated for cannabis cultivation, he transformed his story into a powerful force for connection, singing about land, justice and survival with honesty rooted in outlaw country with touches of blues and Americana. Backed by his Humboldt-grown band The Freedom Riders — described as masterful Humboldt badasses — his gritty, heartfelt sound is showcased on his 2024 album Humboldt and singles like 'Humboldt' and 'I Grew Weed' (Live at Arcata Theatre Lounge).
