Benny Amón's New Orleans Pearls is a traditional New Orleans jazz ensemble led by drummer and bandleader Benny Amón, formed in 2018 after his decade of living and performing in New Orleans. The band mines early jazz, ragtime, blues, spirituals, marches and swing associated with figures such as Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton and A.J. Piron. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2019, premiered to sold-out audiences at Preservation Hall and the New Orleans Jazz Museum. Now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the group performs at swing dances, jazz clubs and festivals with a rotating cast of veteran traditional-jazz players.
