Absynth Quintet

The Absynth Quintet is a high-energy acoustic 'gypsy jamgrass' band born and cultured in the fertile hills of Humboldt County, California. Blending Eastern European gypsy jazz, bluegrass, Americana and indie folk with a reckless, virtuosic and often zany approach to innovation, they have been described as 'fire-breathing gypsy circus indie grass' and compared to the David Grisman Quintet. They have released Indigo Shoes (2007), Iota (2010) and Telepathy With Glowbugs (2014, featuring guests Matt Eakle and Jenny Scheinman) on their Sidenote Records imprint, and have shared stages with Leftover Salmon, Railroad Earth, Devil Makes Three, Emmitt-Nershi Band, Hot Buttered Rum and Sam Bush. A longtime Humboldt favorite, they regularly play the Arcata Plaza Farmers' Market and venues such as Humboldt Brews.
